What is Philippine Parkour and FreeRunning Association or PPFA?
The Philippine Parkour and FreeRunning Association is the nationwide community of Parkour and FreeRunning practitioners in the Philippines. To help unify every practitioner–individual or team– from various regions of the country, of spreading the movement with the rest of our fellow practitioners around the world.
What is Parkour?
Parkour is moving from point A to point B as efficiently and quickly as possible, and of overcoming obstacles along the way, by utilizing the basic capabilities of the human body– such as running, jumping and climbing.
As an official community definition from American Parkour: Parkour is the physical discipline of training, to overcome obstacles within one’s path by adapting one’s movements to the environment.
What is FreeRunning?
FreeRunning is the art of expressing yourself in your environment, without limitations. By utilizing the basic capabilities of the human body– such as running, jumping and climbing, mixed with other forms of skills and disciplines such as gymnastics, acrobatics, trickings, martial arts, mountain climbing, rock climbing, etc., to help in overcoming or using the obstacles in the surrounding environment to where you're headed.
What are Traceurs/Traceusses?
Practitioners of Parkour are called “traceurs” for male, and “traceusse” for female.
It is originated from the phrase and the parkour way of “tracing a path”
while navigating through an environment.
Are both Parkour and FreeRunning an extreme sport? No. Both Parkour and FreeRunning are not extreme sports. They're both a discipline, that requires practice and proper mindset to be practiced.
Is it safe to practice Parkour and FreeRunning? Parkour and FreeRunningis all about safety. By practice, both discipline observes safety, by overcoming an obstacle without any hindrances, and continue on moving.
Who can practice Parkour and FreeRunning?
As long as you've got both hands, arms, and feet; and in good physical condition...anybody can practice Parkour and FreeRunning. Mostly kids who knows the word "play", practice it. Before you can walk, you do know how to crawl or walk on all fours, so what's hindering you from practicing it?
There are no age limits, as long as you are free to move and is willing to learn, and join in the journey of movement.
What do i need to bring, or wear in training?
Wear comfortable clothes that will not hinder you from moving about like running, jumping, or climbing. Preferably wear running shoes (better if it has a good grip)during training (especially in an urban environment).
I'm just a beginner, how do I start my training?
Better to start with a good basic stretches. Master the technics on landing and rolling, jumping and running, as well as practice climbing and gripping exercises. See Basic Training Syllabus for a more detailed knowledge and guide when starting your training.
Remember that you have to adapt to your environment, and not the other way around when training.

Do you have any training schedules we can go to?
Group/collective meet-up training schedules are called JAMS. Your training depended on your personal development, growth and progress. It is more about how you train yourself, thus, the importance of having a proper mindset during and after training. Personal training at most, as well as, group training are encouraged.
Joining in a jam session,gets you to meet other practitioners where you can share knowledge and your progression of your personal skills development. You can see that in the jam schedules posted at the Community.
Do you have regular training jams/sessions? How much does it cost?
Yes, there is. Regular jam sessions, of which you can join in are FREE. No fees required as this is usually conducted in an urban environment.
Only gym sessions require payment fees, specifically for the gym venue usage.
Just look or post in the jam schedules posted at the Community, for any jam happenings in areas near you. We encourage that you do personal training, as Parkour and FreeRunning is an individual training practice.

Is an urban training different from a gym training?
It is. Parkour and FreeRunningis usually done in any immediate environment. You always have to adapt to your environment, not the other way around. Learn to adapt.
If you're trying out a new skill or improving it, it is best that you try the gym environment for confidence building. Afterwhich, if you got your confidence, you can try the practiced skill, out in the urban environment. Beware though, if you got too much gym confidence, then you're not doing Parkour or FreeRunning.
Aside from jams and gym training, are there any other suggested good places to train?
Parkour and FreeRunning is practically practiced anywhere. One basic training ground is to train at home. It is really no surprise that a couple of simple exercises that doesn't involve gym equipments, can not only makes your muscles limber, but it can also help in your body development.
